DESCRIPTION:

After practicing and becoming proficient in the skills & techniques of 'top/bottom roped' climbing the progression is to then 'lead climb'. By joining a 'lead' climbing course you will be introduced to a number of new skills under the guidance of a qualified and experienced instructor who will explain and demonstrate 'best practice' to promote safety and also help avoid against gaining poor technique!

During this 1 day (or 2 half days) course we will look at, discuss and practice subjects including; rope selection, belay devices, clipping properly, when to clip, how to clip efficiently, correct belaying of lead climber, holding a fall, how to fall as safe as possible and more. Gaining knowledge of the correct way to apply these skills and knowing the differences between having good technique or gaining bad habit, could prevent serious injury and may open up the potential of higher graded but safer climbing practice.
