Your Mountain Adventure will be working with Snowdonia Mountain Skills to provide Mountain Leader Award training courses and assessment programs throughout the year.
Courses are held within the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. We also provide spring and autumn award assessments on the magical Isle of Rùm, Inner Hebrides Scotland, which is a wonderful setting to become a qualified Mountain Leader.
The Mountain Leader Award is recognised as the 'industry standard' qualification for those who want lead individuals, or groups, in the upland and mountain environments of the UK, in summer conditions.
Mountain Leader Training - Over the six day course program you will learn about leadership, navigation, poor visibility navigation, steep ground & ropework management, camp & expedition craft, environmental & background knowledge, emergency procedures, understanding weather forecasts & more. The program will include an overnight camp during the course.
Consolidation - During your debrief, at the end of the training program, you will be given feed back, and advice, as the best way to consolidate the knowledge & experience gained, before you attend an award assessment.
Mountain Leader Assessment - Over a five day period you will be assessed on all aspects of the syllabus, with successful candidates reaching the required level of competence in all areas. The assessment will include a 'mini expedition/wild camp' element.
Information of award prerequisites & link to registration here - Mountain Leader Award. Please register for the award before booking onto a training course.
*Prices shown are for training or assessment course provision only. Price does not include award registration, accommodation, transport, meals or other expenses.
** Travel & accommodation sharing is possible for the Rùm assessments, with logistical advice also being provided.
